Purpl Discounts

The Challenge

Living with a disability can be incredibly costly, with the average monthly expense reaching over £1000. Purpl Discounts set out to reduce some of that financial burden by providing exclusive discounts from hundreds of retailers to verified disabled individuals. They needed a platform that was easy to navigate, secure, and scalable, ensuring users could quickly access discounts once their disability status was verified.

We were brought on board to build this platform from the ground up, creating a seamless user experience that could handle content from multiple sources while ensuring secure verification for users.

Our Approach

We began by designing the core architecture of the app using NextJS, which provided the flexibility to pull content from both a headless CMS and our custom-built API. This API was responsible for handling user accounts, including the critical task of verifying users' disability status to ensure only eligible users could access the discounts.

The app’s design was crafted in Figma, where we collaborated closely with the client to ensure that the visual elements were both user-friendly and aligned with Purpl’s brand. To maintain a consistent design system, we built a component library using Storybook, which allowed us to streamline the development process and ensure reusability across the application.

The Results

Purpl Discounts successfully launched as a platform that provides much-needed financial relief to the disabled community. The combination of a robust NextJS backend, a secure API for user verification, and a flexible headless CMS ensured that the app could handle content updates and user interactions effortlessly.

By offering exclusive discounts from hundreds of retailers, Purpl Discounts has become a valuable tool for its users, alleviating some of the financial pressures associated with living with a disability. We’re proud to have developed a platform that makes a real difference in people’s lives.
