The Challenge

The SAB Network is a platform designed to streamline the process of finding, communicating with, and booking freelance sound and video professionals. Production coordinators are often overwhelmed with the challenge of juggling multiple tasks, and the SAB Network set out to simplify this process by providing a system where users can quickly search for the right freelancers based on detailed criteria.

However, SAB Network came to us after being let down by previous agencies. These agencies either tried to force them into off-the-shelf solutions or delivered bespoke but substandard systems. They needed a robust, custom-built solution that could handle the complexity of searching through hundreds of freelancers and managing fast, efficient communication.

Our Approach

We started by patching up their existing platform to ensure it could keep running smoothly while we built a brand-new solution from scratch. The new platform was developed using Laravel for the backend and VueJS for the frontend, providing the flexibility and performance needed to meet SAB Network’s unique requirements.

At the heart of the system is the ability to search through hundreds of freelancers based on specific criteria like job role, production type, location, and availability. The platform automatically filters and ranks members based on how closely they match the job requirements.

We also integrated a messaging system, which allows bookers to communicate directly with freelancers via text alerts and messages, keeping them informed every step of the way. Freelancers can quickly respond to job inquiries, making the booking process seamless and efficient.

To handle the high volume of notifications and job interactions, we implemented Redis for queue management, ensuring that all communications and updates are handled swiftly without overloading the system.

The Results

The SAB Network now has a powerful, custom-built platform that not only meets their needs but exceeds their expectations. The system allows production coordinators to search, communicate, and book freelancers with ease, no matter how complex the criteria may be. The platform’s speed and efficiency, combined with the flexibility of the search and messaging system, have made it a valuable tool for the industry.
